Iraq visa guide for Pakistani citizens: what to check and how we help

The Iraqi Embassy in Islamabad says that people who want an Iraqi entry visa should apply exclusively through the official platform eservice.evisa.iq, without visiting the mission (notice dated 19 December 2025, checked 30/10/2026).

Al-Nagham Travel & Tourism, a Baghdad travel agency, helps visitors with guidance, visa procedures and invitation letters. The Iraqi authorities decide every application.

At a glance

  • Visa type: depends on your purpose: visit or tourism, religious visit (ziyarat / Arbaeen), or business. The Iraqi authorities decide.
  • Where to start: the Islamabad embassy notice and eservice.evisa.iq; confirm with the embassy what applies to your passport and purpose.
  • How we help: we explain the steps, prepare your details and an invitation letter, and plan your trip inside Iraq. We do not issue visas.

Tourist or visit visa

Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes a visit or tourism visa for visiting tourist and relic sites, and says tourist groups apply through tourism companies in coordination with officially licensed tourism companies in Iraq. That page quotes letters from 2009 to 2013, so treat it as background and confirm the current rule with the embassy. Planning a trip? See our Iraq tours and Iraq visa support.

Pilgrim visa (ziyarat and Arbaeen)

The same ministry page describes a visit visa for religious events or visits to holy sites. Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs has advised pilgrims travelling to Iran and Iraq to arrange their travel only through government-registered Ziyarat Group Organisers and to check the ministry's list before booking (reported by The Nation on 11/07/2026; the ministry's own pages could not be opened by us on 30/10/2026). For our ziyarat arrangements inside Iraq, see religious visits.

Work and business visa

The ministry page says business people and investors may be granted a visa at the discretion of the head of mission, and that foreign workers need a work permit from Iraq's Ministry of Labour with listed exceptions (it cites a 2011 letter). Al-Nagham does not recruit workers or arrange work permits; for a business visit we can prepare an invitation letter.

Requirements

  • Iraq's e-visa: evisa.iq (Ministry of Interior) is the official e-visa portal; check its current procedure, conditions and fees at the official source or contact us.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa page: lists a valid passport (check the required validity with the embassy or contact us), an application form, a stated reason for the visit, the ability to cover living costs, and a full address in Iraq.
  • Which list applies to your passport and visa type is for the embassy to confirm. We cannot confirm it for you.

Fees

Visa fees are set and collected by the Iraqi authorities, and they can change. Confirm the current amount on the official source before you apply: evisa.iq or the Embassy of Iraq in Islamabad. We do not list amounts here, and older fee schedules on mission pages may be out of date.

E-visa status

The Islamabad embassy's December 2025 notice points applicants to eservice.evisa.iq. We could not read the country selector on evisa.iq on 30/10/2026, so we cannot say whether your visa type is open to your passport there. Contact us for the current procedure, and rely on the official source.

Kurdistan Region and federal Iraq

The Kurdistan Region has its own visa, separate from the federal Iraq visa: see our Iraq visa guide and visit.gov.krd. A page of the KRG's representation in the United States lists Pakistan among the nationalities for which the KRG "is unable to issue a visa at this time" (the page is undated). Check the Eligibility Checker on visit.gov.krd for your passport before you plan any Erbil leg.

Frequently asked questions

Where do Pakistani citizens apply for an Iraqi visa?

The Iraqi Embassy in Islamabad's notice of 19 December 2025 asks applicants to apply exclusively through eservice.evisa.iq. Confirm with the embassy that this covers your visa type, especially for group ziyarat travel, before you pay for tickets.

Do I have to use a registered operator for ziyarat?

Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs has advised pilgrims to Iraq and Iran to use government-registered Ziyarat Group Organisers (The Nation, 11/07/2026). Check the ministry's official list and rules yourself; we cannot confirm what applies to you.

Does Al-Nagham issue the visa or promise approval?

No. Al-Nagham Travel & Tourism in Baghdad does not issue visas and cannot promise approval or timing. We help with guidance, visa procedures and invitation letters, and the Iraqi authorities decide.
